Biography

Gertrude Létournea u is a flutist, singer, accompanist and music instructor at the Perley and Rideau Veterans’ Health Centre in Ottawa.  As the same time, she continues her performing career as a flutist and singer. She has presented concerts in various venues such as the National Arts Centre and the Canadian War Museum. Ms. Letourneau has been heard on the radio numerous times, including a CBC concert, recorded in Almonte, with “The Chris Norman Ensemble”. In 2005, she released her first solo CD, “histoires d’amour…”. In November 2008, she was a guest musician in the National Arts Centre Orchestra Western Tour. In 2009, Ms Létourneau performed with pianist Peter Tiefenbach a concert of songs and music of 1939-45 called Remember…Souviens-toi… at the National Arts Centre, the Canadian War Museum and various Veterans’ homes in Montreal, Ottawa, Toronto and London, Ontario.

Gertrude has a Bachelor Degree in Music from the University of Ottawa, a Master’s degree in Performance from the University of Montreal and a Licentiate in Performance and Communication Skills from the Guidhall School of Music and Drama in London, England. She also studied in the Musical Performance and Communication Program in Toronto and studied the flute with Geoffrey Gilbert in Florida.
